Short Line Data Systems Inc. – ROCS Update April 2007
Website: www.sdsrocs.com
Greetings:
It’s show time! This time next week we will all be in Baltimore for the ASLRRA’s Annual Convention. As many of you know, I am the Meeting Chairman, and for the last 11 months have been working on what has become the “Perfect Storm” of Annual Conventions. In this update we will be previewing our booth in the exhibition hall and what promises to be an exciting meeting program.
By the Numbers
As I mentioned above, this is really shaping up to be a record meeting. As of Friday, over 1000 people have registered for the convention, with over 300 railroaders attending which is a new record for railroad attendance. In addition, there are over 100 spouses registered, with close to 60 going on the spouse tour.
The exhibit hall has been sold out for months, with close to 30 companies still on a waiting list to get a booth. We have been working with the fire marshal to make the best use of the space on the third floor, literally taking things down to the inch to fit as much exhibition space as possible in the hall.
The program is nothing short of jam packed. We have been able to attract the top people in our industry to present at the meeting, and we will have over 60 presenters in Baltimore. In addition to a full educational program, we haven’t forgotten about the social program. We will start out early on Saturday night with 250 people attending the Oriole’s – Blue Jays game. Following Sunday’s chain cutting, the exhibit hall will open with a grand reception. Sunday will close with the Rockin’ the Roundhouse party at the B&O museum featuring a concert from Rockin’ Jason D. Williams. Don’t miss the lunch in the exhibit hall on Monday, and the Monday night reception which will have a large number of drawings for prizes, including grand prizes which have been sponsored by SDS and Commonwealth Publishing.
Our Booth
The SDS booth will also be a record, with our largest display yet. As always, we will have a demonstration area for all of our products, plenty of brochures, and of course, it wouldn’t be an Annual meeting without our fun giveaways. I won’t reveal exactly what they are right now, but let’s just say that one will make life more bear-able, and that the B&O won’t be the only thing rock-ing in Baltimore. Make sure you stop by the booth to say hi, see what’s new, and drop your card for a chance to win a Nikon Coolpix digital camera.
Well, that is all for now. Next month we will be returning to our regularly scheduled updates about the ROCS family.
Safe travels,
Steven Friedland President |
