The inbound cars screen allows the user to manually interchange cars, as well as check on the location of cars due in to the user's railroad. The cars are interchanged by entering the interchange date and time for a car, and then clicking on the Inbound Cars button.
The inbound waybill for a car can be viewed or printed by clicking on the WB button. To view the physical characteristics of a car, the user clicks on the UMLER button for that car.
The trace information includes the last location and event for a car, the reporting railroad, and how long it has been since the last reported event. The length and height of the car is listed below the car number, and the Gross Weight of the car is also listed. The height and weight numbers can be set to indicate numbers that are above set limits. The inbound cars screen now features the SmartArrive function to predict the arrival of a car. SmartArrive takes all of the cars in your database that are of the same STCC and origin, and averages the travel time from waybill date to interchange on your railroad. This average is used in two places: the first is predicting the arrival date of a car, which is set in the Arrival Date field on the Inbound Cars section of Customer Status, and the second is in a pop-up form that you can bring up by double clicking on the Last Event field in the Inbound Cars screen.
The form shows the car number and origin, the number of days the car has traveled, the average travel days for the O/D pair and STCC, the number of days until arrival, and the number of cars used in the average. If the car is overdue, the Days Until Arrival will turn a darker shade of red to alert you to the car's tardiness. |
