Short Line Data System ROCS Update – June 2007 Website: www.sdsrocs.com Greetings: The summer is upon us, and we have finally caught up with the entire backlog from the ASLRRA annual meeting. We have been working on setting up systems for installs that we have coming up soon, and we have also been trying to plot out our plans for our products for the future. This will be a short update this month since it has only been a couple of weeks since our last update, but we will cover all that has been going on. New Installations: As we mentioned last month, we will be on our way to Cheney, WA to install ROCS and ROCSDispatch for the new Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad. This is another repeat customer, as parent company US Rail Partners is the also the operator of the Blackwell Northern Gateway Railroad, a ROCS user since early in 2006. In addition to the EWG installations, we will be travelling to the eastern part of North Carolina at the end of the month to install ROCS and ROCSDispatch out at the expanded Carolina Coastal Railroad. Carolina Coastal has been a long-time ROCS user, but we have been performing their data entry in New Jersey for them over the last couple of years. With their expanded operations, the CLNA will be going to a more conventional operation, with their own staff doing the data entry and operations with both ROCS and ROCSDispatch. In between the installation trips, we are planning on making a couple of visits to companies that have requested an on-site demonstration of our products. If you are interested in us paying your site a visit, please give us a call or drop us an email. We can also do on-line demonstrations for any of our products, and can do one for your company almost immediately when you call. ROCS While we have been working on the new installations, we are looking towards the future versions of the ROCS system. Our current plans include heavy revisions to the revenue accounting side of the program, with a new version of the Rating Database in the works. We will also be working on improvements on the STCC and rating system in the main part of the database. Additional options will be available for demurrage reports, and we will be adding some new reports to the car hire system. As always, if there are new features that you would like to see in the system, please let us know. ROCSDispatch The SLRG dispatch system is up and running, and we have been working out a couple of small changes between the A&M’s system and the SLRG operation. For the most part is has been a very smooth installation, and our first one that we have done completely remotely. While we would not recommend it for a new user, it can be done if needed. We are still planning on the GPS integration with Dispatch, just we haven’t had a lot of time to work on it recently. On the Road Again As we mentioned above, we will be making a couple of sales trips during the summer. Our current plans include being in the northern part of the middle of the country in the late June – early July time frame, and in the south later in July. We will also have a booth at the NS Short Line Meeting at the end of July. If your company is interested in an on-site visit, please get in touch with us and we’ll plan to pay you a visit. Well, that is all for now. We’ll be back in the early part of July with all of the goings on at SDS.
Stay safe, Steven Friedland President |
